Very interesting topic! I hope I'm spelling her name right: Please remember that Lewis and Clark wouldn't have been able to traverse the continent without the help of Sacajawea. That's my understanding, anyway. happy

Jennifer,
Welcome to American History. Who knows what would have happened without Sacajawea's help? At least she stepped in where her blundering husband was concerned.
Thanks,

Mary, The thing I find most interesting about Sacajawea's trip is that at 15 years old, she made that trek with a baby on her back. She wasn't a guide, but certainly had a positive impact on the expedition. It was she who stayed calm during a storm when one of the canoes capsized. A true American heroine.

Hello Red,
Good to hear from you! Yes, Sacajawea was certainly an outstanding woman and "a true American heroine."
