- What About It?
Few of us are aware of the long time controversies that rage behind the closed doors in academia about the methods used in teaching history-specifically, American History.
.
It would require great expertise to explain the full idea for understanding history impacts the reader's thinking regarding your personal life experience. Hopefully, you can well imagine what your life would be like if you had very little, if any, knowledge of your personal life's history-and, then, whatever is was, would be distorted and confused. You would not be very good at making even the day to day decisions based on your best interests let alone any decisions of long term importance to you.
.
According to the experts, that is about the way it is for the body politic in America. We live, arguably, in the most politically divided time in the history of the world when an increasingly large portion of us are making the life and death decisions on who it is that we will elect to lead us into our destiny. We do it, mostly, based on sound bites and group affiliations, shaky at best. Information, for which we have little ability to verify for authenticity, is constantly fed to us through the media that is beholden to those who who provide the corporate owners with favors and profits for their investments. We The People are almost forced to take sides based on very little knowledge, if any, of our national history and, then, it is mostly distorted and confused.
.
Generally, and in a broad sense, this is the basis of the controversies regarding American History as it has been taught in our public school systems here in the Good Ol' U.S.A.
.
Here we sit-in our homes and offices, while those "experts" who are charged with making the decisions about how these controversies will be settled debate our future behind those closed doors. How can our best interests be served if we will fnot make the choices to learn the truth on our own? How can we deal with the life and death choices with which we are faced? Are we, in fact, able to make wise choices without foundational knowledge? Who is it that we will look to for answers if we cannot look to our own personal knowledge?
.
Prover bally, we're up that creek without a paddle.
.
What do you think?
