» pink101 - The "Idiot" Factor

In response to The "Idiot" Factor posted by BrianTubbs:

"...you are DEFINITELY not the only one around the Suite who engages in mass labeling."
.
We probably all do that from time to time.
.
I think you have to admit, Brian, that Americans are heavily influenced by government and corporate hype. Wendell does have a point and I'm sure you know that. People who continue to believe in George W make up about one out of every three adult Americans having fallen from maybe five out of every six shortly after the 9-11 tragedy. It is quite obvious that if the present issues--regarding his misrepresentations that led Congress into giving him the blank check to go to war--continue and they are beginning to surface at an accelerating pace. The house of cards is beginning to fall. One thing you must realize is that America is a nation of laws and that no one is above it. It's an extremely sad and difficult admission to make. Wouldn't many of us give our life to save our country for our descendants like our forefathers did for us? The documentation of the fraud cannot be destroyed--it is on record and it is being shown to the public.
.
And, when those die hards finally realize that they HAVE been snookered, they are going to be very upset. Notwithstanding your belief that you think you do know the truth, where do you think you will direct your anger when you know the real truth about the conspiracy to defraud the United States?
.
My hopes and prayers are that we will come out of this terribly dark time a much better society cleansed of our corruption.

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Presumption of Innocence

In response to The "Idiot" Factor posted by pink101:

I don't believe any human being should be tried in the court of Internet public opinion. I believe in the American cardinal principle of presumption of innocence. I've seen so much hate and vitriol and hyperbole thrown against President Bush, that I'm just turned off by it all.

The man was reelected by both a popular and electoral majority in 2004. That was two years after he committed us, with congressional authorization, to Iraq. And it was after it became fairly clear that the WMD stockpiles were nowhere to be found in Iraq.

I'm just not going to join any anti-Bush parade chanting "Bush lied, Troops die" or "Viva la Revolution" or whatever other slogans are being bandied about. Not interested.

The majority of the American people have soured on this war. There's no question about that, and a lot of mistakes have been made. Mistakes that Bush needs to take responsibility for. However, I do not believe he is a criminal traitor bent on totalitarian power. I most certainly don't believe he deliberately murdered thousands of innocent people to further some diabolical scheme.

If you or Wendell think I'm "brainwashed," because I generally trust the United States government (institutionally speaking) and refuse to seriously consider these conspiracy theories, then so be it.

» _Boanerges_ - The "Idiot" Factor

In response to The "Idiot" Factor posted by BrianTubbs:
Wendell, I'm not personally offended. I just thought it worth pointing out that you seemed to categorize the vast majority of Americans as "brainwashed idiots." And you singled out those who believe there really is a War on Terror. That includes me.

Well, that does include you, Brian.. unfortuantely. I do not consider you as an idiot though.. So please, lets not confuse the direction of my complaint. It was not, and is not, directed at you.

To be fair, though, you are DEFINITELY not the only one around the Suite who engages in mass labeling. I've pointed this out with a couple of the others around here too.

Sorry to disappoint you. But, we will be divided on this issue (war on terror)...

And, as you can well see.. this is one of the well planned attempts at dividing the people. It works well, does it not.

However, keep in mind.. although you may think of us as divided by opinion, I do not see it that way. I believe you have the right to believe what you want, and that is fine with me. I do though however, reserve the right to call out truth when it is present, no matter how right or wrong a person may be on their belief about a thing..

Personally, I believe you are misguided on what the "war on terror" really represents, and believe that you have (based on your statements) bought the governments story.. which we all know by now is nothing but lies... and, if they lied about that, then certainly they would lie about any other thing....

Nonetheless, I still retain my respect for you and consider you as my brother. No matter how much they want to divide us (you an me in particular) please know they will not succeed.

All I ask is not to blame me when you realize we are indeed correct in this matter that is being discussed.

Wendell, I don't see any comment you made over in the Ecclesiastes discussion. If I missed it, sorry.
which, sadly, was my point.... the discussion "started" in the 'New Discussions' thread.. but then was moved to another location... oh well..

Are you talking about the Ecclesiastes thread over in Protestantism?
yep.... but.. forget about it already. I have. Really, I have no interest to re-join those discussions, and do wish you well with them! All is well.. life moves along....:)..

You have laid the foundation of the indictment against George W. Bush and the "gang of five" that he leads. He decieved the congress and the people. The facts are documented. Don't paint yourself into a corner based on your heart felt beliefs.
.
It's more than being "soured on this war", Brian. It's recognition of the facts that there has been a steady campaign of misrpresentation. Don't forget, you live in a post modern America and, if we do one thing it is that we WILL deconstruct the events that led up to this war. The house of cards has begun to fall--sic I Scooter Libby. Everyone "knows" that Cheney was in on that up to his arm pits. But, what we "know" won't do it. All persons are equal in front of the law and the members of the Bush team are no exception to that rule. In fact, they has sworn an oath to serve us. So, they are our servants. They must be held accountable, don't you think? That is, if they have commited a crime against We the People? The charges are in the air. Shouldn't an innocent person want an investigation at this point?
.
I don't think you're brainwashed. I think you've been snookered. A lot of people have been snookered. They want--desperately--to believe in George W. Bush. We should never put so much trust in a man.

» _Boanerges_ - All of us MUST take responsibility

......a few snippets....
WARNING: THE END OF AMERICA AS WE KNOW IT IS AT HAND
By Greg Evensen 2-5-07
NewsWithViews.com
http://www.newswithviews.com/Evensen/gre...

"....All of us MUST take responsibility for what is coming. Many of us have adamantly fought against the rising tide of a police state government. We are losing badly. NOT because we don't care, NOT because we haven't tried, and certainly NOT because we haven't committed to resisting this complete sell-out of the Founders dream for this nation and its people. We are failing because YOU have not protested at the school board meetings, the city council chambers, the county commission boards and the state and federal legislatures while you still have freedom of speech. Because, out of indifference or fear, you have not stood up to this criminal neglect and criminal actions against our constitution, these elected sell-outs have sensed your negligence and have had the boldness to give America away to the highest bidder.

.....Regardless of the cause or the effect, America is on her knees. She is a haggard old woman unable to understand who she used to be. No longer are the strong arms of brave young men and women able to help her to her feet. There is no one left who knows this original America or cares.

.....You will be counted among those who were as responsible as the complicit socialist Washington government for our national demise precisely because you were intentionally ignorant

....Don't count on your church leadership to expose evil and save America. They have compromised their principles for money and relationship building and can no longer discern evil. Jesus said when salt loses its savor it is to be trodden underfoot. Pastors have lost their savor, and in the process, have lost their backbone and the love for their fellow man. They fear IRS more than God."

» pink101 - All of us MUST take responsibility

In response to All of us MUST take responsibility posted by _Boanerges_:
.
Here is how the Matthew Henry Commentary deals with Isaiah 5:18-23:
.
MHC: Isaiah 5:8-23 "Here is a woe to those who set their hearts on the wealth of the world. Not that it is sinful for those who have a house and a field to purchase another; but the fault is, that they never know when they have enough. Covetousness is idolatry; and while many envy the prosperous, wretched man, the Lord denounces awful woes upon him. How applicable to many among us! God has many ways to empty the most populous cities. Those who set their hearts upon the world, will justly be disappointed. Here is woe to those who dote upon the pleasures and the delights of sense. The use of music is lawful; but when it draws away the heart from God, then it becomes a sin to us. God's judgments have seized them, but they will not disturb themselves in their pleasures. The judgments are declared. Let a man be ever so high, death will bring him low; ever so mean, death will bring him lower. The fruit of these judgments shall be, that God will be glorified as a God of power. Also, as a God that is holy; he shall be owned and declared to be so, in the righteous punishment of proud men. Those are in a woful condition who set up sin, and who exert themselves to gratify their base lusts. They are daring in sin, and walk after their own lusts; it is in scorn that they call God the Holy One of Israel. They confound and overthrow distinctions between good and evil. They prefer their own reasonings to Divine revelations; their own devices to the counsels and commands of God. They deem it prudent and politic to continue profitable sins, and to neglect self-denying duties. Also, how light soever men make of drunkenness, it is a sin which lays open to the wrath and curse of God. Their judges perverted justice. Every sin needs some other to conceal it."
.
Your quote from Greg Evenson gives you a good reason why I left the organized church. It has nothing to offer other than bondage to a hierarchy as noted in your last paragraph.
.
Too bad. They will bring themselves down.
