- Dominionist?
I don't see D James Kennedy trying to overcome or replace the US Constitution. That is why I don't repudiate him. All he is doing is urging like-minded Christians to get involved. There's nothing wrong with that.
Falwell's Moral Majority, Robertson's Christian Coalition, etc. are NOT efforts to overturn the US Constitution and turn America into a theocracy whereby churches or denominations run the US. Do you HONESTLY believe that's what they are about?
It really sounds like what you're saying is this: D James Kennedy, Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, James Dobson, et al can believe whatever they want - and they can vote however they want. But that's about it.

Pink, I've moved in some of those circles. (Of course, I've also been to Jesse Jackson Rainbow/PUSH conference - but that's another story). I'm telling you that these folks do NOT want to establish a theocratic state. UNLESS you define what the Founding Fathers set up as a theocratic state. In that case, you have a point - because that is essentially what they are pushing for. They want to bring America back to its founding principles. They want GOD officially and emphatically acknowledged, but do NOT want one denomination or faith group calling the shots in government.
As for restricting civil liberties...what on earth are you talking about? Gay marriage? Abortion? Drug use? Prostitution? what are you talking about?

The whole label "Christo-Fascists" is highly offensive - you have a knack for serving up provocative and offensive labels. It serves NO purpose other than to inflame to hurl labels around like this.

- Christian Conservatives
Since some label is necessary to move discussions along, let's try to be as fair-minded and balanced as possible. "Christian conservative" is probably a reasonable label to apply to religiously-minded citizens or groups actively engaged in the civil arena.
The brief hodge-podge of issues you list only seems to imply that you feel some issues should be outside the realm of public debate. If you believe that our government should be "of, by, and for the people," then aren't Christian conservatives PEOPLE? Don't they get a voice? And what if they're able to persuade other people to go along? What if they become the majority?
By the way...the issue with stem cell research is FUNDING and I'm aware of no book-burning parties hosted by Christian conservatives. Christians are not out to ban books. That's just nonsense! And what's this business about people not being allowed to attend lectures on the origin of life? I know of NO Christian effort to stamp out public lectures. Good grief.
