I'm zeroing in on the final pages of Fischer's book, Liberty and Freedom : A Visual History of America's Founding Ideas.

If you haven't read it, I'm sure you will find his approach to American History to be quite unique. He compares his work to Alexis de Tocqueville's Democracy In America except that Fischer writes about freedom and liberty of democracy--not the equality of democracy.
