» Feature Writer Roger Saunders - Are they positive or negative

I just read this article by Dennis Jameson on the history of Scientific Election Polling:

There is probably quite a variance of opinion as to whether polling, historically, has more positive or negative effects on the election process in the United States. What do you think?

Are politicians too dependent on polls to the exclusion of leading by their own convictions?

Or

Do polls help representatives of the American people to be more sure that they are following the will of the people they represent?
